Hi, my name is Joanna Deng, and I’m currently a student at Miramonte High School. I’m the Head of Outreach and COO of Communities Ascend, where I help manage communication, organize meetings, and ensure that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
I was inspired to join this nonprofit because I’ve seen firsthand how many small businesses struggle with limited resources and support. I believe students like us can bring fresh, innovative ideas to help these businesses grow while gaining valuable experience ourselves.
Through my role, I hope to contribute to building a bridge between students and local businesses, creating opportunities for both sides to thrive. I’m excited about the impact our nonprofit can make by providing tailored support to small businesses and empowering students to develop real-world skills.

Hi! I’m Dylan Po, the co-founder of Communities Ascend. I’m a junior at Los Altos High School and I’m passionate about computer science and math. As a high school student without many industry connections, I’ve struggled to find internships to further my academic and career goals. I believe internships provide students with vital career skills and experience that aren’t necessarily taught in school but are essential to college and beyond. I want to help other students find connections and opportunities in the workforce and pair them up with local businesses seeking help.
